Fall For It

When people confuse disagreeing with not understanding, a flood of resources comes to my mind. It used to overwhelm me but now it helps me have grace for myself. If it hardly fits on a poster, I’d never be able to say it all at once to someone who’s never learned the basics. It’s healing to set realistic expectations for what’s possible in a conversation and what’s not. When we don’t do that, we build resentment and get very tired very quickly. I’ve learned that when people aren’t ready to hear something, it can take years for it to sink in. We don’t always get to find out it was our words, our art, or our article. Like the Parable of the Sower that Jesus describes in Matthew 13, saying what needs to be said isn’t about getting immediate results. It’s about planting a seed. Matthew 13
