Schools That Work is a bolder, honest, and heart-wrenching collection of stories designed to be more like a magazine than your typical annual report. It encourages relevancy as the norm, showcasing a variety of voices both in and outside of the classroom whose collective story bring light to some of the most pressing issues in K-12 education. Working with Ben Petersen, we were able to take the complex abstract idea of relevancy and translate it into metaphors — depicting a living, breathing and thriving learning environment. Minnesota Comeback hand distributes Schools That Work to faculty, teachers, and parents, as well as their coalition and potential donors. The piece exists in English, Spanish, Samali, and Hmong to reflect the demographics of the featured schools. The stories are also available online; an electronic version lives on the Minnesota Comeback’s website and the art assets were intentionally designed to be repurposed on social media.
